Atwood Area Fall Festival’s 14th annual photo contest is scheduled for Oct. 4, 5 and 6 at the park in Mineral City. Managed by the local photo club, Focus Point, the competition is open to anyone interested in showcasing their best photographic creativity.

Categories this year, for both adults and youth under 18, include Motion, Vintage and On the Beach. The entry fee is $4 per photo entered, with a limit of three photos, and may be paid in cash only.

Entries must have been taken by the entrant, with only minimal digital editing that includes adjusting color, contrast, sharpness or cropping. The overall size should be no larger than 11-by-14 inches including any mat used. Photos must be mounted on stiff backer board, foam board or matted. No glass or frames should be used. Identifying information such as name, contact information and category entered should be written on the back of each photo.

Photographers must complete an entry form found at www.atwoodfallfest.org/attractions-and-shows/2024-atwood-area-fall-festival-photo-contest-rules-specifications-and-catagories or email Julie Murray at j.a.murray@roadrunner.com to request an entry form by email. Do not tape the entry form to the back of the photo. Entries should be submitted at the Weaver Photo Barn, located in Camp Area H across from the restrooms, on Thursday, Oct. 3 from 3-7 p.m.

Winners will be awarded ribbons for first, second and third place and Atwood Festival award plaques. Murray said every effort will be made to ensure the safety and security of all submitted photographs but that neither Focus Point, the Atwood committee nor the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District will be liable for any damages to submitted photos.

Photographers may retrieve their work on Sunday, Oct. 6 from 3-5 p.m. unless other arrangements have been made.

Murray said Focus Point is a local photo club that offers get-togethers for photographers of all skill levels.

“Although we occasionally meet at the Tuscarawas County Center for the Arts, we more frequently exchange field trips for meetings,” Murray said.

This year the group participated in and photographed a garden tour, the Lake Erie Marshes migrating birds and a trip to Pittsburgh. Upcoming events include a trip to photograph old barns and chapels among autumn foliage, a workshop and critique meeting, and the Sternwheeler Festival in Marietta.

“We welcome anyone interested in taking photos,” Murray said. “Our field trips are fun and productive.”

Murray can be called at 330-343-3710.
