Classes for all ages at TCCA span the fine arts

From drama to ballet, cartooning, drawing and painting, clay pottery, and scavenger poetry, the Tuscarawas County Center for the Arts has a class for every member of the family interested in the arts. Classes are affordable, and financial assistance is available for individuals who qualify.


Spring art classes for kids will begin the week of Feb. 11 at the Tuscarawas County Center for the Arts, 461 Robinson Drive SE, New Philadelphia.

Classes will include Drama, taught by Elizabeth Holmes; Ballet, taught by Shellyn Leeper; Cartooning Boot Camp, taught by Douglas Laubacher; Drawing and Painting, taught by Bill Koch; Clay Pottery, taught by Ashley McCahill; and Scavenger Poetry, taught by Larissa Carrick.

Tuition aid is available for students with financial need through the Jennifer Hunt Memorial Scholarship. Classes for children are funded in part through the Ohio Arts Council, R & J Cylinder, Lauren International, the Tuscarawas County Community Foundation, Troyer & Associates and Doris Kimble.

Adult art classes added to the spring schedule include How to Make Great Photos, a four- session class facilitated by Terry Barnhill, and Beginning Pottery, a six-session class taught by Dee Grossman.
