The deadline to be included in the third annual Massillon Voice singing competition at the Lions Lincoln Theatre is approaching.

Anyone wishing to audition must fill out the online form or call the theater by March 14. The competition will be held Saturday, May 16 at 7 p.m. at the Lions Lincoln Theatre, 156 Lincoln Way E., Massillon.

The contest is open to all Ohio residents and is for vocalists only — no bands. Contestants may sing with a backing track or an accompanist such as a guitarist or pianist. Each act is limited to five minutes, and acts must be family friendly: no profanity or inappropriate behavior.

There will be two categories for contestants: age 17 and under and age 18 and over. The winner in each age bracket will receive $75 and a trophy, the second-place winner in each age bracket will receive $25 and a trophy, and the third-place winner in each age bracket will receive $10 and a trophy.

To audition, email a video clip (or link) showcasing your vocal talent to lionslincolntheatre@gmail.com. Applicants also may audition in person by calling 330-481-9105 to schedule an appointment. Those chosen to participate will be notified by phone or email.

The Massillon Voice is a fundraiser that will benefit the nonprofit Lions Lincoln Theatre to help pay for programming, repairs and operating expenses. The contestants will be judged on their vocal ability and stage presence, which will account for 90 percent of their score. The remaining 10 percent of their score will be the total amount of donations made in their name from program ads purchased, online donations or donations from the audience during the performance. Each dollar that is donated will be counted as one vote.

Tickets for the show are $15 and may be purchased online at www.lionslincolntheatre.org or by calling 1-800-838-3006. All seats are reserved.
