The Forever Young Singers will give a free concert at 3:30 p.m. at Tuscora Park on Labor Day, Sept. 2.

"The purpose of our concert is two-fold," said Sherrel Rieger, a member of the choir group. "We want to sing songs from our repertoire so that all people at the park can enjoy some uplifting music. The second reason is to raise funds to contribute to the RTY’s efforts to maintain the new gazebo and boardwalk."

In addition to the free concert, there will be opportunities to contribute to the fundraiser including a gift basket raffle. All items have been donated by local businesses.

Local artist Patricia Hostetler Crolley, known as the Memory Painter, has created two original oil paintings of the park. "Tuscora in Winter" is a 16-by-20-inch painting that captures the beauty of the gazebo and the boardwalk during winter. This original painting will be raffled during the concert. Prints (8-by-10 inches) of the painting also are available for sale.

Prints and raffle tickets are available from members of the choir and at the Tuscarawas County Convention and Visitors Bureau, 124 E. High Ave., New Philadelphia.

Also on display at the CVB is the second original painting, "The Sky's the Limit" (24-by-36 inches), which shows the park's Ferris wheel.

"When you see the colorful details of the gondolas against a bright summer sky, memories of the times we rode that wheel will come to mind," Rieger said. "A frame of stressed wood is the perfect finishing touch for this painting."

Bidding on this painting can be placed at the CVB during regular business hours.

"This Labor Day enjoy a picnic in the cool shade of the trees or buy an ice cream cone or cotton candy at the concession stand," Rieger said. "Walk around the lake or sit under the gazebo. Let your children or grandchildren burn off some energy at the playground or ride the carousel. Buy a raffle ticket and win a painting or a prize. Listen to the music of the Forever Young Singers. Whatever you choose to do, you will be making a memory with people you love at a place you love."

Tuscora Park is located at 161 Tuscora Ave. NW in New Philadelphia.
