The Orrville Public Library, 230 N. Main St., Orrville, will offer a number of events in January.

Book Club’s January selection is “The Prize Winner of Defiance, Ohio.” The book is based on the true story of Evelyn Ryan, who supported her family by writing prize-winning jingles. During her career she won everything from a pony to a trip to New York City. Dealing with an abusive, alcoholic husband, she managed to raise 10 children and save her home from foreclosure.

Check out the book, available in a variety of formats, from the circulation desk. The group will meet for discussion on Tuesday, Jan. 21. Choose from either the 10 a.m. or 6:30 p.m. session. No registration is required, and new members and occasional drop-ins are always welcome.

Classic Movies will continue on Thursday, Jan. 23 with “You Can’t Take It with You.” This 1938 romantic comedy was nominated for seven Academy Awards. What happens when a man who comes from a family of rich snobs meets and falls in love with a woman from a slightly eccentric family? The free showing will be at 1:30 p.m.

The next movie showing will be “Casablanca” at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 28. This 1942 movie is one of the most popular films ever made. Starring Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman, it’s about a man and woman in love and their difficulties during WWII.

No registration is required to attend the free movies. For more information call the library at 330-683-1065.

In celebration of National Puzzle Day, Annual Puzzle Exchange will have tables set up near the information desk for visitors to take a puzzle home. Feel free to bring in puzzles you are finished with. The free exchange will be held the week of Jan. 27.

The library also has an ongoing jigsaw puzzle set up near the big windows on the east end of the building. Visitors are invited to sit and relax a few minutes and work on the puzzle.
