Library to host ukulele program

The Dover Public Library invites patrons of all ages to play and sing along at a special musical event, A Very Merry Ukulele.

The Dover Public Library will have the A Very Merry Ukulele event on Wednesday, Dec. 11 at 6:30 p.m. Participants can bring their own ukuleles, borrow a library ukulele or simply sing along.

Registration is appreciated. Interested patrons may call the library at 330-343-6123 for more information or to register.

This program will include instructions for beginner ukulele players as well as two bonus songs for more experienced participants. Songs include “Joy to the World,” “Feliz Navidad” and “Jingle Bells.” Handouts with chords and lyrics will be provided.

“The ukulele is such a joyful instrument,” teen/outreach services manager and amateur ukulele player Liz Strauss said. “I hope we can share that joy at this program and provide a fun night of music and cheer for everyone who attends.”

This free program is sponsored by a 21st Century Afterschool Learning Grant with Dover High School, which provides funds for educational and entertaining activities taking place outside the classroom. The library’s 10 ukuleles, provided by the grant, are available
for in-library practice upon request.

The Dover Public Library is located at 525 N. Walnut St. in Dover, across from Dover High School. For more information visit
