Next Wayne Center Presents concert April 12
The 2024 season of the Wayne Center Presents concert series, featuring a variety of musicians from across the country at the Wayne Center for the Arts auditorium, will continue April 12 with violinist Chad Hoopes and violist Matthew Lipman.
This will be the fourth concert of the second season of the Wayne Center Presents series, presented in partnership with ESQYRE, an Ohio-based organization focused on classical music performance and education programs.
Tickets for the concert, which will run from 7-9 p.m., are $30 and are available at www.wayneartscenter.org/events.
Hoopes has performed with many of the world’s leading orchestras since winning first prize at the Young Artists Division of the Yehudi Menuhin International Violin Competition. Hoopes is a 2017 recipient of Lincoln Center’s Avery Fischer Career Grant. Former winners include Kirill Gerstein, Yuja Wang, Leila Josefowicz, Joshua Bell and Hilary Hahn.
Lipman has been praised by the New York Times and by the Chicago Tribune. Lipman has frequently appeared as both a soloist and chamber music performer. Named the 2019 Artist-in-Residence for the American Viola Society, Lipman has additionally been featured on WFMT Chicago’s “30 Under 30” of the world’s top classical musicians and is a published contributor to The Strad, Strings and BBC Music magazines. He performs regularly on tour and at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center.
“This is sure to be a lively concert with two world-class musicians,” said Sara Starr Brink, Executive Director of the Wayne Center for the Arts. “These artists have performed in the world's most prestigious venues, and the opportunity to hear them play here in Wooster is truly special.”
A limited number of tickets are still available, and band and orchestra students in Wayne County are encouraged to attend. Free tickets for students are available and can be reserved at WayneArtsCenter.org/WCP. Tickets can also be purchased on that site for $30 each. Support for Wayne Center Presents is provided by a grant from the Ohio Arts Council and the Robert and Esther Black Family Foundation among many other sponsors.
