There’s plenty going on at the Orrville Public Library in October. For information on any library event or to obtain the Zoom link information, call 330-683-1065 or go to www.orrville.lib.oh.us.

The Orrville Public Library’s October selection for its Classic Movie Club is “Vertigo.” This 1958 film was directed and produced by Alfred Hitchcock. James Stewart stars as a police detective who is forced into early retirement due to his recently developed fear of heights and vertigo. He is ultimately hired by an old friend to follow his wife, but all is not as it seems.

The movies will be available for check-out at the circulation desk, beginning Monday, Oct. 12. One also will be given a comment sheet to share thoughts about the movie. A Zoom Movie Chat will be held Friday, Oct. 30 at 3:30 p.m., and participants will be able to chat with others who watched the movie. Any written comments will be shared.

Orrville Public Library will have its fall “Trendy Titles” online book review to update the list of “must read” titles. Staff will share books in a variety of genres. This also is an easy way to get Christmas gift ideas.

The Zoom meeting will be held Friday, Oct. 16 at 3:30 p.m. To obtain the Zoom link information, call the reference desk at 330-683-1065.

Teens are invited to stop by Orrville Public Library to pick up the basic items needed to make their own water bead stress ball. This is an easy DIY that will help lower school or life stress. Kits are available at the reference desk while supplies last.

Reading aloud to animals can boost kids’ literacy skills. Orrville Public Library will offer an opportunity for kids to practice their skills by reading to its children’s department goldfish, Clementine, or to Miss Rena’s dog, Gryffindor. This will be via a private Zoom meeting. You can read your choice of books, and 8-10 minutes per session is recommended.

Sessions for Clementine will be scheduled every 20 minutes on Friday, Oct. 16 between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Gryffindor will follow the same schedule on Friday, Oct. 23.

Sign up now via the calendar at www.orrville.lib.oh.us or by contacting the children’s department.

Orrville Public Library will once again offer story times via Zoom. Register for story times through the calendar at www.orrville.lib.oh.us or by contacting the children’s department. Registration will begin Monday, Oct. 12. When registered, you will receive the Zoom link information a few days before story times begin.

Zoom story times will be held for four weeks beginning Oct. 27. Sessions for 2- and 3-year-olds will be at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesdays. The 4- and 5-year-old sessions will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesdays. The Wednesday 9:30 a.m. session will be for Bubbles & Books (birth to 24 months) participants. Realizing these times might not work for everyone, a link will be shared so the recorded story times can be viewed around your schedule.

The Storytime Craft Kits will be available to pick up starting Monday, Oct. 26. The kits will contain crafts for all four weeks of story time. These kits can be picked up either in the library or at the drive-up window.

Orrville Public Library is now open additional hours. The building and drive-up window will be open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday and Thursday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday, and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday. The drive-up will also be open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, but the building will be closed.
