Performing arts series offered in Wooster
The National Endowment for the Arts has provided Wayne Center for the Arts with a grant to host a performing arts series. The first performance will be the Escher String Quartet on Friday, Sept. 27 at 7 p.m. in the auditorium.
The Escher String Quartet has received acclaim for their “rich, blended sound” and “expressive, nuanced performances.” Currently serving as the Season Artists of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center in New York, the ensemble has been heard across the U.S. and the world.
Their recent album series featuring Mendelssohn’s string quartets was released to worldwide acclaim, the final volume listed in the “Top 10 CDs of 2016" by The Guardian and several volumes nominated for the BBC Music Magazine Award.
The Escher Quartet takes its name from Dutch graphic artist M.C. Escher, inspired by Escher’s method of interplay between individual components working together to form a whole.
Wayne Center for the Arts is located at 237 S. Walnut St. in Wooster.
