The former Tuscarawas County Amateur Photographers Association, now known as Focus Point, in partnership with the Tuscarawas County Center for the Arts, announced winners of the 2022 annual photography contest and exhibition.

There were 20 photographs selected by two judges, Terry Barnhill and Katie Finnicum, to receive awards in five categories: animals/insects, people, nature, landscape/cityscape and open. The following artists were honored with awards:

Michelle Wittensoldner was awarded Best in Show for her photo, “Blue Flower.” She also received first place in the landscape category, second place in the animal category, and honorable mentions in the animal, people and nature categories.

Daniel Lux was awarded first place in three categories — open, people and nature — and two honorable mentions in the landscape category.

Suzanne Lux was awarded first place and honorable mention in the animal category.

Thom Baker was awarded second place and honorable mention in the people category.

Mark Archibald was awarded second place in the nature category.

Julie A. Murray was awarded second place in the landscape category.

Levi Keim was awarded honorable mentions in the open and nature categories.

Christy McMillan was awarded honorable mention in the open category.

“The Tuscarawas County Center for the Arts is pleased to host Focal Point’s annual juried exhibition and showcase, the talents of area photographers. Everyone who visits the gallery will have a rewarding experience viewing the many wonderful photos,” said Jeannine Kennedy, executive director.

Many of the photos are available for sale, and the exhibition will culminate in a free public reception on Feb. 12 at the Tuscarawas County Center for the Arts, 461 Robinson Drive SE, New Philadelphia, at 2 p.m. Visit the website at www.tuscartcenter.org.

Focus Point has simplified its mission and welcomes anyone who loves photography. They sponsored a new public Facebook page, Focus Point. They meet the third Monday of each month at the Tuscarawas County Center for the Arts at 6:30 p.m., plan photo outings and will continue to sponsor two photo contests each year including one at the Atwood Fall Festival in October, with the proceeds of the contests going to local charities.
