The Dennison Railroad Depot is proposing an enhancement project to the Dennison Railroad Depot (The Depot), which is listed in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP), and was recently named a National Historic Landmark (NHL). The Depot features the depot itself as well as several adjacent railroad cars. The complex contains a museum and a restaurant. The facility promotes education and tourism. The Depot museum and restaurant will remain open while the project is being constructed. The subject project proposes to rehabilitate the exterior of one train engine #2700 and the interior of one Pullman sleeper car for use as part of the museum complex. Engine #2700 currently sits at the head of the train wing which was attached to The Depot, as part of an earlier project. It serves as the grand entrance to the facility. The Pullman car is presently located at the opposite end of The Depot’s museum wing, which is composed of previously rehabilitated railroad cars. All the cars sit on the original passenger track spur to The Depot. No new right-of-way will be required to complete the proposed project. No buildings will be involved. The Dennison Railroad Depot is seeking comments from the public about the social, environmental, and economic impacts of this proposed project. Environmental impacts include those involving archeological, architectural and ecological resources, hazardous materials and the general location of the project. Written comments concerning the project may be mailed to the Dennison Railroad Depot Museum, c/o Wendy Zucal, Director, at P.O. Box 11 Dennison, OH 44621. All comments must be submitted by March 30.
