Members of the New Philadelphia Business and Community Association learned of 15 different programs available to help businesses grow and save money on energy costs when representatives of American Electric Power spoke at the March 7 meeting at the Tuscarawas County Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Several members were interested in having AEP complete an energy assessment of their businesses. NPBCA interim director Rick Arredondo suggested members who have success report back to the organization to help others in the future by recommending best practices.

At the meeting Arredondo also suggested the NPBCA form committees such as membership, marketing, beautification and project committees. “We need to be more intentional by focusing on the areas that are important to us. The committees, once they are fully functional, will champion the initiatives approved by the members,” he said.

A representative from Ohio Mid-Eastern Government Association will speak at the April meeting. The association offers a variety of programs including ones for business and community development. For more information about OMEGA, visit www.omegadistrict.us.
