For someone who has lost a loved one, facing the busy Christmas season filled with celebration can be hard.

The Blue Christmas Service offers a quiet, more meditative worship for those carrying pain or loss at this time of year. Shreve United Methodist Church will host this type of service on Thursday, Dec. 16 at 7 p.m. Those who attend will have the opportunity to reflect and grieve in a quiet atmosphere.

The church will host the service as part of its GriefShare program as a way to reach out to people who have experienced loss and are facing difficult circumstances during the holiday. Often those grieving get lost in seasonal celebrations.

The Blue Service offers a message of God’s love with a time of reflection and an invitation to light a candle in memory of a loved one or in recognition of other losses.

Shreve United Methodist Church, 430 N. Main St., Shreve, also will host a 13-week GriefShare program beginning Jan. 6 and continuing each Thursday through March 31 from 7-8:30 p.m.
