Sharon Moravian Church to host free a community picnic
The Sharon Moravian Church near Tuscarawas will host a community picnic on Aug. 10 at the church from 3-7 p.m. The event is free.

Entertainment scheduled so far includes a bounce house for kids, a cornhole competition, darts, face painting, duck float games and ring toss games. The menu will include pulled pork, hot dogs, hamburgers, cheesy potatoes and baked beans. Other activities and food items also may be added.
The first free community picnic was held in 2019 and then again in 2023 after the pandemic. The church now hopes to make it an annual event.
“One of the main reasons that we are having this picnic is to reach out to our community, especially kids as they prepare to return to school,” Pastor Lloyd Gooden said. “We want to help them end the summer joyfully.”
The picnic will be held rain or shine. Activities will be scaled back and the picnic held indoors if there is rain.
The Sharon Moravian Church is located at 4776 Moravian Church Road SE in New Philadelphia, near Tuscarawas.
