Timothy Egan’s biography of Edward Curtis, who devoted decades to photographing American Indians, is depicted in “Short Nights of the Shadow Catcher: The Epic Life and Immortal Photographs of Edward Curtis.”

                        

The Chautauqua Book Club at the Dover Public Library announced its schedule of upcoming discussion titles and dates.

Founded in 1878 at the Chautauqua Institution in Chautauqua, New York, the Chautauqua Literary and Scientific Circle is one of the oldest continuous book-discussion groups in the United States. Each month at the Dover Public Library a different title is selected and discussed. New members are always welcome. Upcoming discussion titles and dates are as follows:

—June 24: “Out of Darkness, Shining Light” by Petina Gappah.

—July 29: “Feast Your Eyes” by Myla Goldbert.

—Aug. 26: “Short Nights of the Shadow Catcher: The Epic Life and Immortal Photographs of Edward Curtis” by Timothy Egan.

—Sept. 30: “Just Smile and Say Hello” by Trang Moreland.
