A digital camera workshop presented by the Ashland Photography Club and The Wilderness Center Nature Photo Club will take place Oct. 2 from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at The Wilderness Center. Registration will be from 9-9:30 a.m.

The workshop is for photographers of any level who want to improve their skills. It will proceed with two concurrent sessions. Each will consist of two 90-minute periods separated by a lunch break. Participants should bring their cameras, their camera manual and a sack lunch. A notebook and pen are recommended.

Camera Fundamentals is for inexperienced photographers. It will cover basic camera controls, the exposure triangle, how to properly expose pictures and a strategy for shooting in manual mode. The goal of this session is to have attendees shooting in manual mode.

The Technical Aspects of Getting It Right in Camera is for more advanced photographers. The themes will include exposure, metering, color, depth of field, drive modes, focus tracking and image review in camera. Knowing how to set one’s camera for exposure is just the beginning. Knowing when and why to use various settings is a key to improving photography.

The cost of the workshop is $5 for members of either of the two photo clubs and $10 for nonmembers. Arrive no later than 9:15 a.m. to allow plenty of time to register.
