“Can the Wolverines!” is a canned-food drive to help the food banks in Tuscarawas County leading up to the Ohio State University Buckeyes football game against University of Michigan.

The Ohio State Alumni Club is challenging all Buckeye alumni and fans to collect canned, boxed and paper goods through Thursday, Dec. 10 — two days prior to the big game. On the 10th from 4-6 p.m., they will have two drive-up locations for donations. They will have volunteers available to take the donations from people's backseat or trunk so they won’t need to get out of their vehicle.

The drop-off locations are Tuscora Park in the upper-level parking area on Second Street Northwest and at Uhrichsville Park near the shelter houses on East 12th Street.

The food will then be distributed to Greater Dover New Philadelphia Food Pantry, Twin City Christian Service Center, Journey’s End Ministries, Salvation Army and Friends of the Homeless.

“We know that many people in our area are struggling and that there is a great need to help fill these food pantries. We thought this would be a catchy way to reach out to Buckeye alumni and fans to encourage them to give,” said Martha Campbell, president of the Tuscarawas County club.
