The Wilderness Center Nature Photo Club will meet on Saturday, Aug. 24 at 9:30 a.m. at The Wilderness Center, 9877 Alabama Ave. SW, Wilmot. The guest speaker will be Dan Sved.

Sved received his first camera when he was 7 years old. During college he was a staff photographer and photography editor for the Penn Press. He went on to start his own photography business.

An injury to his right eye made focusing a camera impossible, so he went back to college to earn his doctorate in marine science. With the advent of autofocus cameras, he was able to turn his attention back to photography.

He has won numerous awards at local, state and national levels. He has had his portrait photography published internationally, and his nature and landscape photographs have been featured in exhibits at the Canaan Valley National Wildlife Refuge in West Virginia and the Ohio Bird Sanctuary.

His presentation will feature photographs of brown bears taken in one of America’s greatest wilderness locations, Katmai National Park, as well as other locations in Alaska. This program is free and open to the public.
