As part of the Prairie Partners’ April meeting at the Holmes Country Rails-to-Trails in Holmesville, flower beds on both sides of the tunnel under state Route 83 were weeded, and new mulch was put down.

                        

The Prairie Partner’s 4-H Club held its April meeting at the Holmes Country Rails-to-Trails in Holmesville with 27 members, five advisors and 10 parents/guests present.

Flower beds on both sides of the tunnel under state Route 83 were weeded, and new mulch was put down. Demonstrations were by Evan Parrot on the proper way to fold the American flag, Kacen Parrot on the difference in hockey sticks and how to select the correct stick, and Alese Parrot on how to properly tie up ropes for easy storing. Plastic bottle caps were collected and weighed for the club’s community project. Members had refreshments provided by the Brown and Parrot families.

The May meeting was held May 15 at the Holmesville Church of Christ. Present were 30 members, five advisors and 12 parents/guests.

Recreation was led by Emma Brown, who had members play a game of freeze tag. Members voted on the July recreation meeting.

The club will plan its trip to Skymax. Fundraising and decorating ideas were discussed and voted on. Plastic bottle caps are being collected for the community project and weighed in at 67.92 pounds. Once the club reaches 100 pounds, it can have a bench made that will be donated to the community.

Demonstrations were Ashton Miller on how to sit a cowboy hat, Alli Milner on making a marshmallow launcher, Kace Milner on using baking soda and vinegar to blow up a balloon, Kamden Milner on how to tie a fishing hook, and Emma Brown on how to set a volleyball, and Cloverbuds worked on piggy banks. Refreshments were provided by the Jewell and Milner families.

The next meeting is planned for June 17 at 10 a.m. at the Croskeys to do trash pickup along the road of the Schlegel Farm.
