The community is invited to the dedication ceremony of the late Carl W. (Bub) Dreher Scouthouse located in Strasburg-Franklin Park at pavilion one on July 27 at 11 a.m. The event will take place during the Summer Festival, which will be held in the park on July 26 from 4-10 p.m. and July 27 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. The park is located at 140 Fourth St. SE.

In 1971 a meeting place for the Boy Scouts was constructed on farm land by the Sugar Creek. A declaration was approved by village leaders that if an active Scout Troop existed in the village, this building belonged to them. The building called the Scouthouse is located in the middle of the picnic area.

During the fall and winter months, the Scouts meet in St. John United Church of Christ, 516 N. Wooster Ave., Strasburg, and hold meetings in the summer at the Scouthouse. The Scouts will honor the legacy of Bub Dreher, whose membership in the Scouting program spanned for over 70 years. Dreher was an Eagle Scout and was a leader for Scout Troop #72 in Strasburg. He passed away Oct. 1, 2023.
