Shooting club packs goodies for veterans

The Holmes County 4-H Shooting Sports Club met Saturday, June 14 from noon to 2 p.m. at the Eastern Holmes Sportsman’s Club.

President Zander Croskey called the meeting to order. J.C. Baker led the United States flag pledge. Braxton Tish led the 4-H flag pledge. Lucas Bailey gave the secretary’s report. Baker gave the treasurer’s report.

The club members and guests studied the difference between shotgun shells and rifle/handgun cartridges. The club members discussed the 4-H project books. Club T-shirts were discussed. Danielle Bailey and Tish will do the research and report back to club members at the July meeting.

Club members packed goodie bags with thank-yous for military veterans. Holmes County Veterans Affairs will help with distribution.

Tish, club health officer, gave a health tip. Baker, safety officer, gave a safety tip.

Disciplines club members participated in were shotgun, rifle and pistol.

Refreshments for the meeting were shared by the Sammy Miller family.

The meeting was closed by Croskey.

The next club meeting will be held Saturday, July 12 from noon to 2 p.m. at the Eastern Holmes Sportsman’s Club.
