Pesticide, fertilizer trainings scheduled

It’s hard to think of spring and planting season when we really have not had winter yet, but now is the time, especially for those of you who need to update your pesticide or fertilizer license.

If you are one of those needing to recertify, you should have gotten a letter in the mail from ODA indicating this. If you’re not sure, then pull the green and yellow cards from your wallet and check the date. If it says 2022, you are due this year, and you need to get to one of the many opportunities OSU Extension offers to pick up your recertification. At this time there is no online training in 2022, so attending an in-person meeting is required. If you for some reason cannot meet in person, let us know.

You must call in and preregister to hold a spot for any program. Group sizes are not being limited at this time as was in 2021, although university guidelines could change due to COVID. Walk-ins may or may not be accepted the day of the programs in 2022, depending on State of Ohio and Ohio State University rules on group gatherings. The registration deadline is three days before each training.

Social distancing will be adhered to, and face masks are not required at the time of this writing but will be made available at each training site. No refreshments or beverages will be provided, but you can bring your own.

Registering for a 2022 class

Call the Holmes County Extension office at 330-674-3015 to preregister for any training date you wish to attend, then arrive 15 minutes before the trainings begin to get signed in and receive paperwork. Cost at each meeting will be $35 for pesticide training and $15 for fertilizer training, payable at the door, or you can send in your check ahead of time, payable to Ohio State University Extension — checks and cash only. No credit cards can be accepted.

If you have not done so, you can send the first half of your payment ($30) along with the paperwork you received back to ODA now. That way when we send in your second half with the paperwork, your license will be released faster. These payments cover you for all three years for your license.
