Trust that God will make things happen in his time

So many of us, myself included, take for granted the life God has so graciously given to us. We think it’s because we earned where we are or we worked and now we deserve our place in the sun.

However, did we ever stop to think maybe God is behind this all? That something out there is holding everything together? Or, maybe, that all we do in life is for a greater purpose than just our fame?

It makes me think of our outlook about life and how much we should look at life from a greater point of view.

Our outlook will determine where we go in life, or better yet, our outlook will determine how long we stay where we are.

Now God can turn anything around for us, so maybe some things are really out of our hands. God can turn it around for our good and his glory. However, I’ve learned so many times God requires a good attitude before he turns it around for me: an attitude of trust and letting him do it for me. Please don’t misunderstand me: Sometimes God calls us to act, and sometimes God calls us just to trust him.

One of the sayings my wife and I have is we need to stop trying and start trusting: meaning stop trying to make everything happen on your own and start trusting that in his right time God will bring whatever it is to pass.

That is a pretty good outlook on life: To say to God, “I don’t understand it, but I am going to trust you no matter what.” We don’t know how to solve all of our problems, but God does in his greatness, and we should bow down to his greatness and let him take over.

People love to say we need to do our part, and I couldn’t agree more. We must all do our part in life, but I for one think we grossly overestimate that part. We are not to take over and to act like everything is on our shoulders. Just trust and obey him when he talks to you.

We are to do what he wants us to do when he wants us to do it. If he tells us to do something and gives us a perfect task to do, we must do it, but if we feel like he is telling us just to obey him and trust he will work it out in his own timing, we should just be willing to trust him.

Trusting God doesn’t mean we just do things because it is the right thing to do. We need to wait for him to tell us when to go. The Bible says to be still and know that he is God. If he is God, then he can do the impossible for us at any time. We don’t have to make anything happen; he will make things happen in his own time.
