“Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.” — Psalm 100:4.

I got engaged over the summer. It was a long time coming, let me tell you. It took me a long time to give it all to God and say I don’t know how everything will work but God has it under control.

I worry about money, and if we will be in good shape, but I was trying to figure it out myself. Once I gave it to God, everything started to fall into place.

I walked into a jewelry store after I looked for a ring online and at another store, and the very first one the guy showed me was the one I ended up buying.

The day I asked her to marry me couldn’t have been a nicer day. I took her to Mt. Jeez, outside of Perrysville. Mt. Jeez is a 1,300-foot hill with a dirt road that leads to an overlook with a 20-mile view, overlooking woods, valleys and a lake. The view is to die for. Of course she said yes.

I will be forever thankful God brought her into my life.

This fall we took a trip with my parents to New England. One of the places we saw was Plymouth Rock. Of course everyone knows the story of the Pilgrims and being helped through the first winter by the Native Americans.

We all know they had the first Thanksgiving the year after the Pilgrims landed to give thanks for the harvest they had. Of course the Native Americans played a big role in making sure the harvest was a success.

The Bible talks about thanksgiving. No, not the day, but as an attitude we all should have for the many blessings God has bestowed on us. Our family, friends, job and good health, whatever we have, we should give to him who has so freely given to us.

Some people might say I don’t know what they are going through, and they would be right, but I believe we always have something for which to be thankful.

I’m not trying to downplay any unfortunate situation, but I know there is always somebody else with it worse than us.

It might take some looking, but if we look hard enough and aren’t closed-minded, we will find something for which to be thankful.

Happy Thanksgiving, from my family to yours.
