Hard water and cold showers

Hard water and cold showers

We had always lived where we had city water and sewer, but our new place has hard water, hard water that doesn’t rinse soap off our bodies very well.

To exacerbate the problem, our water pressure leaves much to be desired. Taking a shower now takes each of us twice the time it once did. And not only is the water bill rising, but our hot water heater is working twice as hard. And a hard-working water heater is an expensive water heater.

Our new place is a bit embarrassed her water is hard and her water pressure isn’t terrific. But what can she do? We have decided to help her out and not run the washer and not slush the toilet when a shower is in progress.

This is helping, and our abode is grateful. Of course one of us occasionally forgets and turns on the dishwater while my Taller Half is showering, and his yells and curses reverberate throughout the entire house. That upsets our house, our dogs and me.

For about a week I feared taking a shower while Taller Half was home in case he wanted revenge for my forgetfulness. He has assured me I am forgiven, but there can be no next time. My Taller Half is such a gentleman.

There are folks now working on our pressure problems. And the pressure is improving, though the water is still hard. We read there is recommended soap for use with hard water. It is more of a detergent and will rinse off much easier.

Why buy detergent soap when we already have laundry liquid detergent for washing our clothes? It does a fantastic job getting us clean. It smells quite nice, but it requires using cold water to rinse.

That is not going to work.
