Enjoy a stay-at-home day

When we went outside yesterday, we discovered our stoop, steps, yard, driveway and car hidden under about 6 inches of snow. Everything was white, wet and very cold.

After brushing off our cold car, we decided going out was probably not such a good idea, so we abandoned the outside and retreated inside.

Our house was glad we decided to spend the entire day keeping her company. When outside plans come to naught and we must spend the day inside, I get the urge to cook. My Taller Half is always very happy about that, so is our abode as our stove produces lovely smells and extra warmth.

Our dogs were happy for a home day too. Our presence provides them with warm laps and extra treats. They also like all the cooking and baking activity. In fact they keep our kitchen under close surveillance.

Actually nothing beats dogs for quick cleanups of dropped food. I haven’t had to pick up crumbs from our kitchen floor in years. Those dogs can grab a dropped item faster than I can reach down to pick it up. They are very efficient kitchen helpers.

Making soup and baking cookies was the menu for our stay-at-home day. Both filled our place with lovely smells, and they tasted pretty good too. We had plans to get all sorts of chores done while we were at home and accomplished zip.

We were too busy cooking, eating, reading, watching TV and playing with our dogs: an absolutely delightful day. In fact it was so nice we are planning a few more “at-home” days, though we may get tired of soup and cookies. My cooking abilities are rather limited.

My Taller Half assures me that is not a something I should worry about.
