The winner of the 36th annual David Myers Memorial Scholarship is Madison Kopp, daughter of Rodney and Tammy Kopp of Dover. The $1,500 scholarship is awarded annually to a senior at Tuscarawas Central Catholic High School in New Philadelphia.

Kopp plans to attend Miami University at Oxford to study accounting and premedicine. She became interested in accounting and financial advising through an uncle and has always wanted to go into medicine.

While remote classes are being held this summer, Miami University plans to resume on-campus classes in the fall.

The scholarship was presented at a video awards program on May 18 because in-school classes and events have been canceled because of the coronavirus pandemic.

An outstanding athlete and a 1967 graduate of the former Dover St. Joseph High School, Myers was a four-year quarterback who led the Ramblers to two undefeated seasons and a state title. His family and friends began the scholarship in 1984 after his death at the age of 35. To date, $32,750 has been awarded to graduates of TCC on the basis of grades, sportsmanship and character.
