The Wayne County Schools Career Center celebrated the graduation of 100 adults and community education graduates on Tuesday, Sept. 25 with a ceremony at the school.

Graduates from 13 career center programs including administrative office technology, automotive technology, billing and coding specialist, dental assisting, fast track basic office operations, fast track welding, law enforcement training academy, medical office billing and coding specialist, medical assisting, phlebotomy, precision machining, robotics and automation technology, and welding technology along with the Wayne County Aspire programs celebrated their accomplishments with family, friends, and career center staff.

Many graduates received Academic Honors, Perfect Attendance and Excellent Attendance awards.

Wayne County Commissioner Ron Amstutz; student speaker Lori Troyer, graduate of the Aspire High School Equivalency program; and fellow graduate Tiffany Smischny of the dental assisting program all addressed the graduating class and guests.

Gary Cates, Sr. vice chancellor at Ohio Department of Higher Education, also spoke.

Many of these students are already employed at local Wayne County businesses while others are working with the school’s career-placement coordinator Josi Weaver-Kranz to be placed in full-time employment positions utilizing the education and skills they developed during their program at the career center.

The career center is currently enrolling for many programs and holds free weekly information sessions. Anyone interested can call the school at 330-669-7070.
