Bob Hall, a local auctioneer with Cronebaugh Auctions and a realtor with The Barnett Realtors, stopped by to visit the pre-k students at Immaculate Conception School in Dennison.

Hall talked to the kids about numbers and counting, fast and slow, and the importance of listening. He explained what his job involves, and after showing them how he counts, he taught them how to do it.

They counted by ones, twos, fives and tens, repeating after him like they were an auctioneer.

After all the practicing, Hall did a small auction with the children where they were able to bid on items. The students made paddles in class with their name and a number. After the auction was finished, each child went home with an item they had bid on.

“It was a fun, hands-on learning experience for everyone,” teacher Ronna Coventry said.

Hall, who had gone to school with Coventry, also talked to the kids about the importance of being kind, listening and doing nice things for others without being asked. The children shared some of the class projects they do to give back to the community and for those in need.

“It was a nice bonus to what I expected to come from the learning activity,” Coventry said.

Hall also took the time to take pictures with the kids before returning to work.
