Buckeye Career Center has named the November Student of the Month recipients. Two high school students were chosen for demonstrating November’s core value of collaboration. One adult education student also was chosen.

One of the Student of the Month recipients is graphic arts senior Crimzen Christmas of Newcomerstown High School. At BCC, Christmas has served as a Buckeye ambassador for two years, is a two-year member of Drug Free Clubs of America and is in her second year of SkillsUSA. She also is a SkillsUSA voting delegate.

Christmas has served as an assistant dance teacher for seven years at Studio 3, has been a part of the Cy Young Days Festival royalty for four years and in 2018 held the title of queen. At Newcomerstown she participates in band and is a majorette.

Christmas was nominated by her instructor Aubrey Gealsha. “Crimzen is always thinking about how the class can collaborate together or work together as a team. She is usually leading the effort. She sets goals for herself and strives to meet those goals,” Gealsha said.

Following graduation, Christmas plans to attend college to become an audiologist with a minor in American sign language. She is the daughter of Debbie and Corey Christmas.

The second high school Student of the Month is double-lab student David Caswell of Dover High School. Caswell is enrolled in ag and diesel technology and commercial truck technology.

At BCC he is a member of FFA and participated in cross country and trapshooting for three years while at Dover. Caswell works at Wallick’s Seamless Spouting, is a member of the praise team at the First Church of the Nazarene in New Philadelphia and is a part of the Sugarcreek Sportsmen’s Club.

Caswell was nominated by commercial truck instructor Jason Miller. “Mr. Caswell took the lead on the Case tractor project that has been in lab for an extended period of time. He worked with others until they reached the common goal of the tractor being able to move on its own power,” Miller said.

Following graduation, Caswell wants to attend the Ohio CAT Think Big Program and complete training to become a certified technician for Caterpillar. He is the son of Mark and Jennifer Caswell.

The November Adult Education Student of the Month is William Maple, an HVAC-R student. Maple of West Lafayette is a 2020 graduate of Ridgewood High School and is employed by Maple and Sons Construction. He enrolled in the program to enhance his HVAC-R skills to become a valuable resource for his family’s business.

The three were recognized by the Buckeye Career Center Board of Education at the board’s virtual November meeting.
