If you’re ready to take the next step and complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, consider registering for a FAFSA workshop, where representatives will be available to help navigate the process.

The FAFSA is the free federal application required to receive federal financial aid including the Federal Pell Grant, student loans and need-based state grants. Studies show a student is 50 percent more likely to attend college when they complete the FAFSA.

Workshops will be held on Saturday, Oct. 5 and Nov. 2 from 9 a.m. to noon and Tuesday, Oct. 22 and Nov. 19 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. All workshops are held in the Main Classroom Building.

“Filling out the FAFSA is important, whether you believe you will qualify for financial aid or not,” said April Blood, student services counselor. “There are even some scholarships which require students to file a FAFSA. Therefore we encourage everyone to apply and be eligible for every opportunity possible.”

While walk-ins are welcome for the FAFSA workshops, registration is encouraged by calling 330-684-8915. Items to bring include a photo ID, Social Security number, 2018 W2 forms and other records of money earned, 2018 federal income tax return, parents’ federal income tax return if a dependent, 2018 untaxed income records, and current bank statements and investment records.

The priority deadline for completing the FAFSA for the University of Akron Wayne College is Dec. 1. The priority deadline for admissions and scholarships at Wayne College is March 1. Apply for admissions online at wayne.uakron.edu/admissions. Scholarship applications can be found at wayne.uakron.edu/scholarships.
