The Claymont Foundation Inc. has awarded more than $38,300 in teacher and building grants for the 2020-21 academic year.

                        

The Claymont Foundation Inc. has awarded more than $38,300 in teacher and building grants for the 2020-21 academic year.

“We are excited to offer these grants for the students at Claymont,” said Bryan Mahaffey, a 2008 Claymont graduate and teacher and building grant committee chair. “These grants go above and beyond the educational opportunities already afforded by the schools.”

The Dave Adams Grants, which are provided to expose the Claymont students to the fine and performing arts, are as follows:

—Jim Howell, CHS Drummers Stay “A-HEAD of the Beat,” $571.86.

—Jim Howell, “Gettin’ Slick with New Reeds and Sticks,” $368.87.

—Jim Howell, “Little Kids Rock” guitar class, $6,900.

—Carrie Kunkle, high school kiln replacement, $4,167.20.

—Miriam Scheetz, library book grant, $4,000.

—Miriam Scheetz, multi-cultural art lessons, $3,900.

—Clara Warner, Quaver’s Marvelous World of Music, $8,575.

The Claymont Foundation Grants are as follows:

—Lisa Davis, Raising the Standards through Chapter Books: The CIA Approach, $2,749.16.

—Travus Houghton, E-Sports Gaming Equality Project, $503.67.

—Travus Houghton, handheld integration to support science team staff and students, $999.96.

—Jane Lesiecki, Mustangs Motivating Mustangs, $1,000.

—Kaylah Mundell, bibliotherapy and counseling workbooks, $269.63.

—Pam Natoli, Book Taco, $1,000.

—Heather O’Connor, high school coffee café, $880.74.

—Heather O’Connor, intermediate coffee cart, $559.07.

—Heather O’Connor, middle school snack shop, $344.37.

—Lindsay Pellegrino, Mimio Teach Portable Interactive Whiteboard, $703.82.

—Lisa Sommers, Expanding Expression Tool, $349.

—Andrew Zimmerman, Trip to Dreamsville, $500.
