Claymont City Schools’ k-5 moved to remote learning on Tuesday, Nov. 17, and the students in grade 7-12 will continue remote learning. This is due to the rise in positive COVID cases and quarantines with staff members, along with the lack of substitute teachers and bus drivers.

Remote learning for all grades, except preschool, began Nov. 17 and will return to face-to-face learning on Dec. 1.

The preschool will remain open for face-to-face instruction during this time. The preschool hasn’t had any illness or outbreak at this time, thus the decision to keep the preschool open.

The district will continue to monitor how COVID impacts the school system prior to making any further decisions regarding school after Dec. 1. It is the district’s desire to have face-to-face learning, but the number-one concern is to keep everyone safe and healthy. School remains in session through remote learning, and extra-curricular activities will continue as well.
