Starting this fall, the University of Akron Wayne College will offer the Bachelor of Business Administration in international business with a minor in professional selling. The degree will be offered entirely on the Wayne College campus, allowing students to earn a four-year business degree close to home.

Offered through the University of Akron’s College of Business Administration, the international business program is accredited at the highest level possible by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International.

The curriculum is designed specifically to prepare graduates to effectively manage the change and complexity of globalization. The B.B.A. in international business with a minor in professional selling prepares students for a variety of career opportunities in management, marketing, sales and business development.

Consisting of blended courses, the degree is a combination of on-campus and online study. Students will form a cohort, which gives a team environment, starting and completing the four-year program together.

“At this time the degree is for those entering as new freshman,” said Wendy Cundiff, manager of academic advising. “The degree will build as the first cohort moves through the program.”

As part of the blended program, students will have the opportunity to use the CBA’s Fisher Sales Laboratory, which consists of over 5,500 square feet of state-of-the-art, skill-based training space, making it the country’s largest university-based sales training facility.

“The CBA has outstanding facilities, and we want our students to be able to take advantage of them, even though they’re located on the Akron campus,” said Gordon Holly, assistant dean of student success. “Therefore, Wayne College will be providing shuttle service for any required off-campus course activity, making it very convenient for our students.”

“It’s amazing how many local businesses right here in Wayne County participate in international sales,” said Dr. Jarrod Tudor, dean of Wayne College. “We hope students will take advantage of the opportunity to receive a four-year accredited business degree close to home. The degree not only prepares students in traditional business functions, but also gives them an understanding of a global market.”
