East Holmes BOE holds October meeting
East Holmes Local Schools Board of Education met for a regular meeting on Friday, Oct. 20 at the East Holmes Central Office.
The board did the following during the meeting:
—Recognized the following Hiland WKLM Student of the Week recipients: Lilly Klink, Sept. 11-15; Alexis Henry, Sept. 18-22; Kallie Eckert, Sept. 25-29; Damarion Tarrance, Oct. 2-6; Timothy Feikert, Oct. 9-13; and Kylie Miller, Oct. 16-20.
—Approved the payment of bills and the September 2023 financial and reconciliation reports as submitted by the treasurer.
—Approved a “then and now” certificate for Tyler Technologies totaling $6,785 with the money coming from the 599 safety grant.
—Approved open enrollment for one student at Hiland for the 2023-24 school year.
—Approved an annual agreement with The Impact Group to provide communication services for the district.
—Approved the following placement on the certified salary schedule effective at the beginning of the 2023-24 contractual school year: Megan Amos to BA150 and Miriam Kratzer to Masters+20.
—Approved the following substitute personnel for the 2023-24 school year, retroactive to Sept. 18: all certified and classified employees as provided by the Tri-County Educational Service Center and all certified and classified substitute employees hired through the district (teacher subs, bus drivers, cafeteria, classroom aides, custodial, library aides and secretarial).
—Accepted and approved a $400 stipend from the Educational Service Center of Central Ohio and that this stipend be paid to Andy Toye for his training and participation in the high school math pathways project discrete math-computers science course.
—Approved the following supplemental positions for the 2023-24 school year: Heather Goings, prom advisor; Zachary Rearick, National Honor Society advisor; Sherri Hochstetler, Ski Club advisor volunteer; and Ken Hochstetler, Ski Club advisor volunteer.
Other information
Several people spoke during the guest portion of the meeting including Jason Short, Bryce Troyer, Megan Mullet, Mike Miller, Eric Detweiler and Kelsey Hochstetler.
The next board meeting is scheduled for Nov. 17 at the East Holmes Central Office.
