Fairless BOE holds special meeting
Fairless Board of Education passed a resolution at a special meeting on June 27 to proceed with the election of a 4.5-mill, 10-year substitute levy that will generate $1,864,760 annually. The levy will not increase property taxes.
The board also approved a Memorandum of Agreement between the district and Massillon Public Library to provide library services at a cost of $12,678 per year, effective from July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2025.
The board also did the following:
—Accepted the resignations of Logan (Bing) Brown, teacher, and Natalie Gilkerson, math coach, both effective Aug. 1.
—Granted one-year teaching contracts to Tiffan Jennings, intervention specialist, and Emily Rudd, first grade.
—Approved one-year contracts to Gail Indorf, two hours per day, bus driver for the preschool route, and George Shammo, custodian, effective July 1.
—Gave approval for a one-year contract to Amelia White, permanent certified substitute teacher, and Brianna Studer as a temporary certified substitute teacher, as needed, both for the 2024-25 school year. Under the new law, substitute teachers do not need a bachelor’s degree.
—Granted a one-year supplement coaching contract to Robert Miller, football, a nondistrict employee.
The next regular board meeting will be held Aug. 20 at 6:15 p.m. in the high school at 800 Seventh St. SE in Brewster. The July 16 meeting is canceled.
