On April 21 the Department of Health and Human Services announced via an Information Memorandum that children who qualify for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program can now be considered eligible for Head Start Free Preschool and supports including school readiness, nutrition and family support.

This administrative flexibility will supercharge Head Start’s work in local communities to prioritize service to families and children who most need it, especially those who are already eligible but are unaware of the new eligibility rule.

Any family with a child between the age of 3 and 5 and receiving SNAP is automatically eligible for Free Head Start Preschool at Kno-Ho-Co-Ashland CAC Head Start. Free Head Start Preschool is available in Sullivan, Ashland and Loudonville in Ashland County and Millersburg and Glenmont in Holmes County. Applications for fall 2022 are being accepted and will continue to be accepted at any time.

More information or application information is available by calling 330-377-4567.
