Ramseyer elected West Holmes BOE president
The West Holmes Local Schools Board of Education met Monday, Jan. 13 at West Holmes High School for a regular meeting.
The board did the following during the meeting:
—Approved updating one policy.
—Approved the West Holmes High School course selection guide for 2025-26.
—Approved a resolution for West Holmes Local Schools Youth Art Month.
—Approved a resolution for West Holmes Local Schools Youth Music Month.
—Approved a Memorandum of Understanding with Kent State University.
—Approved contracted trainer services as needed at $30 per hour.
—Approved contracted trainer services as needed through University Hospital at $40 per hour.
—Approved updates to the special education model policies and procedures.
—Approved a resolution to cover treasurer under employee dishonesty and faithful performance of duty policy in lieu of bond.
—Approved the resignation of Emily Legg, cook, effective Dec. 31, 2024.
—Approved the retirement of Carletta Lance, teacher, effective May 31.
—Approved the following as substitutes: Allison Beun, nondegree teacher, effective Jan. 8; Laina Snyder, nondegree teacher, pending fingerprints and paperwork; and Thad Weaver, full-time high school, effective Jan. 13.
—Approved the following as a volunteer: Matt Sprang, athletics, effective Jan. 10.
Other information
West Holmes Local Schools thanked Nathan Atterholt of Family Eyecare Associates Inc. for donating to the ongoing care of the school facility’s dog and Dr. Mary Uhl for donating routine care services for the school facility’s dog.
An organizational meeting and a budget hearing took place before the regular meeting.
During the organizational meeting, Hans Ramseyer was elected president and Andy Jones was elected vice president of the West Holmes BOE.
The next board meeting is scheduled for Feb. 17 at Killbuck Elementary.
