Indian Valley’s Aaron Davis selected for Teacher of the Year
Aaron Davis, a multi-subject educator at Indian Valley High School in the Indian Valley Local School District, his alma mater, has been selected as Regional State Board District 8 Teacher of the Year.
Davis earned his Bachelor of Science in Education from Kent State University in 2004, followed by a Master of Art in Special Education from Malone University in 2012.
For the past 12 years, he has taught courses in ninth grade through 12th grade including college credit plus psychology, sociology, government, multimedia productions and aerial videos using drone technology.
Davis’ passion extends beyond the classroom as he serves as the assistant marching band director for the state-qualifying competition band and the adviser for both Braves Nation Communications, the school’s media extracurricular group, and the pep band.
Davis believes students with exceptional leadership can be found not only in the classroom, but also on the football field, performing arts classrooms and many other locations within the schools.
Ohio Teacher of the Year program
Since its inception in 1964, the Ohio Teacher of the Year program annually identifies teachers statewide, celebrating their work in and outside the classroom. The mission of the program is to provide opportunities for professional learning to exemplary teachers as leaders and advocates for public education.
Selected teachers move through two levels of recognition: the State Board District Teacher of the Year as a regional recognition and the Ohio Teacher of the Year as the state-level recognition.
