The Dover-New Philadelphia Kiwanis Club is a service organization dedicated to serving and building up the local community.

                        

The Dover-New Philadelphia Kiwanis Club is a service organization dedicated to serving and building up the local community. The New Philadelphia Kiwanis Club recently awarded 22 scholarships of $500 each to local students for a total of $11,000.

Twenty of the scholarships are from the Dover-New Philadelphia Kiwanis Club scholarship program, which was founded in 1979 by the late Rev. Jay Cooper. The late Ole Wessell, also a Kiwanian, left funds in trust that the club uses for the scholarship program.

Two additional scholarships of $500 each are The Rancie Titley Memorial Scholarship. Titley was a longtime, active and valued member of the club. Her husband, Bill, has provided funds for the scholarships in her memory. Since the inception of the program, the Dover-New Philadelphia Kiwanis has provided approximately $215,500 to assist in the education of area students.

Recipients of The Rancie Titley Memorial Scholarship for the 2021-22 school year are Eviana Strauss of New Philadelphia, daughter of Richard and Margie Strauss, a junior at Kent State University with a major in managerial marketing and psychology, and Sydney Warther of Dover, daughter of Dan and Julie Warther, a sophomore at Taylor University with a major in finance and minor in intercultural studies.

The winners of the Kiwanis Scholarship for the 2021-22 school year are as follows:

—Tess Affolter of New Philadelphia, daughter of Dave and Shelly Affolter, a senior at the Ohio State University with a major in biology.

—Jacob Andrews of New Philadelphia, son of Eric and Erica Andrews, a junior at the University of Kentucky with a major in accounting and finance.

—Ashlyn Ansel of New Philadelphia, daughter of JT Ansel and Amy Ansel, a junior at Ohio University with a major in business/marketing and minor in fashion merchandising.

—Claire Barnett of New Philadelphia, daughter of Michael and Diana Barnett, a junior at Ohio University with a major in management, marketing.

—Samantha Blair of Dover, daughter of Samuel and Rebecca Blair, a sophomore at Kent State Tuscarawas with a major in nursing.

—Ryan Dick of New Philadelphia, son of Karen Dick and the late Joseph Dick, a 2021 graduate of Tuscarawas Central Catholic High School, who will be a freshman at Ohio University with a major in engineering technology and management.

—David Finnell of Dover, son of Scott and Amy Finnell, a sophomore at University of Notre Dame with a major in electrical engineering.

—Grace Gao of New Philadelphia, daughter of James and Lily Gao, a 2021 graduate of New Philadelphia High School, who will be a freshman at the Ohio State University with a major in operations management and sustainability.

—Kara Harrison of New Philadelphia, daughter of David and Kristina Harrison, a 2021 graduate of Tuscarawas Central Catholic High School, who will be a freshman at Ohio Northern University with a major in nursing.

—Sadie Hurst of New Philadelphia, daughter of Matt and Kiera Hurst, a sophomore at Kent State University with a major in integrated science education.

—Nathan Loader of New Philadelphia, son of Jon and Martine Loader, a sophomore at the University of Akron with a major in computer information systems-cyber security.

—Lane Moore of Dover, son of Doug Moore and Natalia Layman, a senior at Ohio University with a major in journalism and sociology.

—Hannah Neff of Dover, daughter of Rodney and Linda Neff, a 2021 graduate of Dover High School, who will be a freshman at Kent State Tuscarawas with a major in radiology technology.

—Paige Poland of Dover, daughter of Mike and Autumn Poland, a 2021 graduate of Dover High School, who will be a freshman at Kent State University with a major in nursing.

—Margaret Prucha of New Philadelphia, daughter of Jerry Prucha, Jr. and Kristina Prucha, a 2021 graduate of New Philadelphia High School, who will be a freshman at Otterbein University with a major in music education.

—Madison Reidenbach of New Philadelphia, daughter of Brian and Susan Reidenbach, a junior at the University of Cincinnati with a major in sports administration/digital media.

—Emma Smith of Dover, daughter of Jason and Julie Smith, a 2021 graduate of Dover High School, who will be a college freshman with a major in biochemistry.

—Rylie Steele of New Philadelphia, daughter of Todd and Evelyn Steele, a sophomore at Kent State University with a major in art education.

—Patrick Tolloti of Dover, son of Jay and Lisa Tolloti, a senior at the United States Merchant Marine Academy with a major in maritime logistics and security.

—Brock West of Dover, son of Troy and Renee West, a 2021 graduate of Tuscarawas Central Catholic High School, who will be a freshman at the Ohio State University with a major in political science.
