Lintern awarded Health Foundation Scholarship
Pomerene Hospital recently announced Blaine Lintern as the recipient of the 2025 Pomerene Health Foundation Scholarship. This annual $4,000 award is presented to the child of a Pomerene employee who is pursuing a career in the health care field.
This year the scholarship committee, comprised of Tia Cernava, Jamie Tippet and Tracy Smith, reviewed six applications. The selection criteria included academic achievement, extracurricular involvement, community service, financial need and overall quality of the application.
Blaine Lintern, son of Melanie Lintern, an occupational therapy assistant at Pomerene Hospital, stood out as the committee’s top choice. A graduate of Garaway High School, he earned a 4.482 GPA and graduated first in his class. He has been accepted to Kent State University, where he plans to major in biology with a premed focus.
In addition to his academic success, Lintern has demonstrated leadership and community involvement. His extracurricular activities include Grace Church Youth Group, mission trips, food pantry service and participation in Radical Manhood, a men’s mental health initiative. He also is active in photography, videography and sports media as a camera operator, as well as coaching youth bowling.
Lintern’s school involvement has included National Honor Society, Media Club, baseball, bowling, the Buddy Program, football coaching staff assistant, videoboard operations for school events and Bowling Club. Outside of school he holds a part-time job at Albert’s Advertising as a screen printer.
Pomerene Hospital extends its congratulations to Lintern and wishes him continued success in his journey toward a career in medicine.
