Students honored for by AC-WH JVS BOE
The Ashland County-West Holmes Joint Vocational School District Board of Education held a regular meeting in the board room on Feb. 20.
The board did the following during the meeting:
—Recognized Tina Zickefoose, recipient of the 2025 OSBA Master Board Member Award. A board member who earns each component of the STAR Awards Program — Service, Training, Aptitude and Recognition — in a three-year period attains the status of Master Board Member.
—Recognized Ashland County/West Holmes JVSD CTPD for earning the Overall 5-Star Award for the 2023-24 Career-Technical Planning District Report Card.
—Recognized Natalie Endslow, animal veterinary science, Loudonville High School, for achieving January Junior Student of the Month; Andrew Duposki, culinary careers, Mapleton High School, for achieving January Senior Student of the Month; and Jennifer Gibson, adult education, medical assisting, for achieving January Student of the Month.
—Recognized AC-WH Career Center students who achieved perfect attendance for the second nine-week grading period in the 2024-25 school year.
—Recognized AC-WH Career Center students who achieved honor roll status with all As and students who received honor roll status with As and Bs for the second nine-week grading period in the 2024-25 school year.
—Recognized the following students for HOSA Region 3: Veterinary Medical Terminology, Animal Veterinary Science, third place, Gretchen Weaver, junior, West Holmes High School; Creative Problem Solving, Animal Veterinary Science, third place, Adison Gustafson, junior, West Holmes High School, and Zondra Hershberger, junior, West Holmes High School; and Medical Innovation, Health Tech/Animal Veterinary Science, first place, Megan Hughes, junior, West Holmes High School, Malia Lennington, junior, West Holmes High School, and Alyssa Valandingham, junior, West Holmes High School.
—Approved the following certified resignation: Pam Grubbs, secondary education math instructor, from her continuing contract, effective May 31 for the purpose of retirement.
—Approved the employment of certified/classified personnel as substitutes.
—Approved the employment of certified/classified personnel as substitutes, effective 2023-24 through Tri-County ESC.
—Approved an agreement between the State of Ohio Department of Transportation and Ashland County-West Holmes JVSD for roadway improvements to state Route 60 and to set forth the responsibilities of the parties with respect to the construction and installation of the roadway improvements as a requirement due to the district’s expansion project.
The next board meeting is scheduled for March 20.
