When Lindsy Snyder was in first grade, she felt loved and cared for by her teacher Kim Miller.

That led Snyder to want to become a teacher once she got older.

“I wanted to be that person for other kids,” said Snyder, who teaches third grade at Millersburg Elementary.

Snyder said she can’t pick one favorite memory since starting her teaching career, but she said she loves all the extra things they do, like different parties throughout the year, Christmas programs, spirit weeks, field trips, et cetera.

Although Miller had a profound effect on her life, Snyder said she didn’t realize how much of an impact she would have on her own students each year when she began teaching.

“They grow so much in just one year, and it is really neat to see that transformation,” she said.

For Snyder, teaching has many rewarding aspects to it.

“Seeing kids come to school and enjoy being here, being able to laugh and have fun with the kids while they learn new things, (and) seeing kids have success after they have worked so hard on something (are the most rewarding parts of my job),” she said.

Teaching also comes with some difficulties.

“Knowing that there is so much that is out of my control in many different ways (is the most challenging part of my job),” Snyder said.

When Snyder was a student at West Holmes High School, she participated in basketball, volleyball, National Honor Society, Student Council and Knights of the Round Table.

Snyder is currently the varsity girls basketball coach at her alma mater, another job she loves. She also enjoys being outdoors and traveling to new places when she’s not teaching.

“Teacher Spotlight” is a feature on a teacher in the East Holmes or West Holmes school districts.
