Students recognized at BCC

Buckeye Career Center has named the November Student of the Month recipients. Two high school students were chosen for demonstrating November’s core value of collaboration. An adult education student also was selected.
The first high school winner is floral design senior Emily Huprich. She attends BCC from Hiland and is a member of FFA. Outside of BCC she is a nine-year member of the Barnyard Buddies 4-H club. Upon graduation she hopes to become a floral designer. She was nominated by her instructor, Mrs. Sharon Burdette.
“She goes above and beyond to help others and work together to complete projects. Emily has good attendance, good grades and a great work ethic,” Burdette said.
Huprich is the daughter of Dale and Susan Huprich.
The second high school student of the month is graphic arts senior Blake Warner. He attends BCC from Dover. He is a member of SkillsUSA at BCC and works at Giant Eagle in Dover. He is undecided on his plans after high school but is considering college or the military. He was nominated by his instructor, Ms. Aubrey Gealsha.
“He comes to lab during his study hall to work on lab projects and is constantly collaborating and asking for advice from his fellow students and myself,” Gealsha said.
Warner is the son of Mandy Warner and the grandson of Bob and Carol Warner.
The Adult Education Student of the Month for November is Tim Miner, a student enrolled in the heavy equipment operator/CDL A training program. Miner is a graduate of Sandy Valley and works at Ziegler Tire. Upon graduation he hopes to gain entry and employment through the operator’s union. His instructor, Mr. Don Young, considers him a great student.
“He has what it takes to be a great operator. He is always improving, is a team player and has a great desire to become an operating engineer,” Young said.
The three were recognized by the Buckeye Career Center Board of Education at the board’s November meeting.
