Nearly 20 Buckeye Career Center students have qualified to compete at the HOSA State Leadership Conference this spring.

                        

Nearly 20 Buckeye Career Center students have qualified to compete at the HOSA State Leadership Conference this spring. The students are members of the BCC HOSA Future Health Professionals chapter who competed Jan. 25 at the HOSA Mideast Regionals at Massillon Perry High School. Over 600 students competed.

Those achieving first place in their respective competitions include Beatrice Camacho (pharmacy technician/New Philadelphia) in Medical Spelling, Meghan Schoelles (intro to nursing/New Philadelphia) in Job Seeking Skills and Alexia Shedron (intro to nursing/Tusky Valley) in Clinical Nursing.

The team of Juliet Humphrey (intro to nursing/Conotton Valley), Destiny Newman (intro to nursing/Garaway), Nathan Baker (intro to nursing/New Philadelphia) and Aunna Sanner (intro to nursing/New Philadelphia) also placed first in the HOSA Bowl.

Students achieving second place include Shawntel Hafer (exercise science/Tusky Valley) and Kaci Schweitzer (exercise science/Indian Valley) in CPR/First Aid, Kim Halsey (exercise science/Newcomerstown) in Epidemiology, and Andreaiona Edwards (medical assisting/Carrollton) in Life Support Skills.

Students achieving third place include Autumn Brown (exercise science/Conotton Valley) in Human Growth and Development, Alison Graybill (exercise science/Strasburg) in Nutrition, Faith Lemay (exercise science/Garaway) in Pathophysiology, Amber Jones (exercise science/Strasburg) in Epidemiology, Karla Western (intro to nursing/Claymont) in Medical Terminology, and Jazmyne Hunley (medical assisting/New Philadelphia) in Interviewing Skills.

Vanessa Shaw (intro to nursing/Indian Valley) and Connor Harlan (exercise science/Claymont) also will compete at state in the Healthcare Issues competition. The HOSA State Leadership Conference will be March 31 and April 1 in Columbus.
