Buckeye Career Center is seeking assistance from local businesses and residents to help defray the cost of its drug-free student initiative for the 2019-20 school year. This is BCC’s second year participating in Drug Free Clubs of America, a nationwide program that began in Cincinnati in 2005. BCC had 200 students participate last school year.

The goal of the program is to promote healthy living and a drug-free lifestyle for teenagers.

Buckeye Career Center also believes the initiative is helpful to employers who are seeking drug-free potential employees. Students who apply to be involved in the chapter are drug tested and given an ID card to keep in his or her possession.

Buckeye Career Center is seeking support in the form of monetary donations or incentives. The financial contributions help pay for the student membership fees, testing supplies and rewards while the incentives are distributed to students throughout the year.

Local businesses also can participate in the Drug Free Club discount card, which works like the fundraiser cards that are sold by area sports teams each summer. Any individual or business that supports the chapter will be recognized on a banner that hangs in the BCC cafeteria.
