The Wayne County Schools Career Center is seeking nominations for Distinguished Alumni Awards from area employers, past and present staff, and the community. Nomination forms can be obtained at www.wcscc.org or by calling 330-669-7000 ext. 1110.

The annual awards are a means of recognizing career center graduates who have made significant contributions to their community and by their success in the world of work. The award is limited to those who have graduated from the career center and have been in the working world at least five years (Class of 2018 or earlier).

Each candidate must have nomination forms completed by two different people, and the forms must be returned to Wayne County Schools Career Center, Attn: Tracy Ferguson, 518 W. Prospect St., Smithville, OH 44677, or emailed to tferguson@wcscc.org by April 7. Selection will be made by a committee of representatives from local businesses and industries and past and present career center staff members.

Recipients from 2022 include Matt Martin, president of the Wayne County Fair; Celia Pumphrey O’Hearn, teaching assistant; Jeremiah Widmer, host of "The Jeremiah Show" on 96.5 KISS FM; and Pam Meade Zanone, office manager and executive assistant to the president of United Titanium.

Each honoree will receive a plaque at the career center’s senior recognition ceremony in May. A matching plaque will be displayed at the career center.
