Aultman celebrates BCC’s 30th anniversary
Aultman Health System celebrated the 30th anniversary of its Breast Care Center on Tuesday, April 1 with a ceremony held in the center.
The ceremony’s theme, “Past, Present and Future,”focused on the many changes and advancements that have occurred and continue to occur in breast care. Former colleagues joined Aultman leadership and current staff to mark the occasion, and speakers included Steven Kelly, M.D., chief medical officer; Sabrina Shilad, M.D.; Thomas Poulton, M.D.; and Anne Taylor, executive director, Aultman Imaging Services.
Before 1995 patients receiving breast care had a fragmented experience, often having to make return visits for diagnostic testing, consulting with a physician and beginning treatment. The first of its kind in Stark County, the Aultman Breast Care Center created a more integrated experience by bringing all departments related to the diagnosis and treatment of breast disease into one shared space. Departments such as medical oncology, radiology oncology, surgery and imaging could now work together in real time, reducing the number of visits for patients and allowing them to begin treatment earlier.
The Aultman Health System is a nonprofit health care organization serving Stark and surrounding counties. The integrated health care system includes Aultman Hospital, Aultman Orrville Hospital, Aultman Alliance Community Hospital, the locally managed health insurance provider AultCare, The Aultman Foundation and Aultman College.
