In coordination with the American Red Cross, Buckeye Career Center will host a community blood drive on July 18 from noon to 6 p.m. in the Joe Carlisle Café at Buckeye Career Center.

The drive is being organized by Assistant Adult Education Director Steve Rippeth and 2022 Intro to Nursing alumna Kaylee Taralla as a community service outreach project.

“Buckeye Career Center is excited to partner with the American Red Cross to launch the first of what we hope will be many blood drives at BCC,” said Rippeth. “We’ll be working together to give back to the community in a truly life changing way, since each donation we collect can save up to three lives,” he said.

Buckeye Career Center medical academy and adult education students will be on hand to assist at the drive, along with students from the nursing program at Kent State Tuscarawas. Starbucks will provide refreshments for those who donate and the Red Cross will distribute a complimentary gift to each donor.

Appointments are recommended and can be made at www.RedCrossBlood.org, via the Blood Donor app, or by calling 1-800-Red Cross. If booking digitally, it is recommended you enter the code “BCC” to locate the correct event. Walk-ins will also be accepted during the drive. All donors should enter the building on the far side and park in the café parking lot.

Buckeye Career Center is located at 545 University Drive NE, New Philadelphia.
