Recently, the Campbell Family Scholarship was endowed with the Holmes County Education Foundation by Matt and Mindi Campbell. This renewable scholarship will assist West Holmes High School graduating seniors of high achievement as they pursue their higher education goals. To be eligible for this scholarship, the applicant must be a graduating senior of West Holmes High School, hold a 3.25 GPA or higher and have an ACT composite score of 22 or higher.

The 2020 recipient is West Holmes graduating senior David Tyler Masters. He plans to pursue education at Ashland University in the fall. He has been involved in soccer, wrestling, Knights of the Round Table and National Honors Society and is a volunteer for the children’s programs at NewPointe Community Church.

Both Matt and Mindi Campbell are graduates of West Holmes High School, and their three sons — Hunter, Chase and Brady — attended schools in the West Holmes Local School District. Both Matt and Mindi Campbell received Holmes County Education Foundation scholarships that helped them pursue their higher education degrees at Ohio University in business administration/finance and early childhood education, respectively.

Matt Campbell currently is a financial advisor with Investment Partners Ltd. in Millersburg. Mindi Campbell currently serves as secretary at West Holmes High School. The couple has been very active in the community over the years.

Matt Campbell has served on various boards such as the Holmes County Chamber of Commerce, Millersburg Faith Lutheran Church and West Holmes Athletic Boosters. Currently, he is a trustee with the Holmes County Education Foundation.

Mindi Campbell is involved with Holmes County Share-A-Christmas. Her past involvements include Friends & Neighbors of Every Women’s House (now One-Eighty) and Millersburg Elementary PTO. Matt and Mindi Campbell enjoy spending time with their sons and extended family.

Matt Campbell has a strong background in financial and estate planning. Matt and Mindi Campbell are members of the HCEF Keyholder’s Society. The society recognizes and thanks those donors who have included or intend to include the Holmes County Education Foundation in their wills, trusts, retirement plans, life-insurance designations and other planned gifts.

Matt Campbell said, “The foundation has been part of my estate plan for a while, but quite frankly I wanted to see the benefits during my lifetime. I respect anyone who donates into retirement or as part of their estate. However, this is a way for us to promote lifetime giving to those still in their working careers. My hope is to inspire more donors to follow suit. We’ve created this merit-based scholarship to reward students of high achievement. The foundation does a thorough job of placing awards, and I trust the money is going to the most-worthy students.”

“Matt and Mindi have a heart for this community, and their efforts and involvement truly show it. They have set an example that hard work pays off. It is inspiring to see this young couple want to help other students pursue a higher education. The scholarship funds that the foundation invested in them 25 years ago have come full circle as they now invest in the futures of local students. We are extremely grateful to them for their generosity,” executive director Darla Stitzlein said.
